12-Analytics helps law enforcement leaders and officers use data, AI, and evidence-based practices to solve today’s toughest challenges. We provide practical, in-person training rooted in real police experience and research partnerships. Our focus is on giving agencies tools they can use the next day — whether it’s making smarter staffing decisions, improving performance, or understanding how AI is changing the field.

Lead Instructor and Founder Matt Barter is a current Police Lieutenant and a nationally recognized leader in evidence-based policing and public sector innovation. His nearly two-decade career includes assignments with patrol, crime analysis, the ATF Violent Crimes Task Force, Anti-Crime Unit Sergeant, Chief of Staff, Officer-in-Charge, and SWAT. Matt's current focus is on the intersection of policing, analytics, and artificial intelligence. He is a co-author of the first known randomized controlled trial evaluating police use of generative AI. Matt regularly teaches on topics related to strategic leadership, organizational change, and data-driven practices in law enforcement. He is a NIJ LEADS Scholar and member of the IACP Cross-Committee AI Working Group.
