Course Description

Learn from a subject matter expert and co-author of the first experimental evaluation of AI use in policing. This course equips law enforcement professionals with the strategic insight and evidence-based frameworks needed to evaluate and implement artificial intelligence (AI) tools responsibly within their agencies. Designed specifically for law enforcement, the course demystifies key AI concepts, including generative AI and large language models, and explores how these tools can enhance efficiency, support investigations, and streamline administrative processes. Participants will analyze real-world use cases, including AI-assisted report writing and body-worn camera evaluation, while also confronting the legal, ethical, and operational challenges AI presents. Drawing on the only experimental study to date on law enforcement use of AI, this training emphasizes constitutional policing, public trust, and human oversight. Attendees will leave with a structured understanding of AI risks and benefits, an agency-ready evaluation checklist, and a roadmap for developing internal policy, piloting tools, and guiding responsible AI adoption in line with national best practices. **If you would like to pay via invoice, please select "Pay in Person" and we will send you an invoice.**
